Just LIN the Knick of Time

15 Feb

He may have gotten his nickname from his slick style, smooth moves and outlandish clothing, but more recently it is Walt “Clyde” Frazier’s way with words that has made him a fan favorite. It’s been rumored, by way of the Zen master, that his extensive vocabulary is a product of late nights spent on the road defying his party persona and reading the dictionary in the team hotel. While “Clyde” may have struggled in the classroom (Go read Garden of Eden it is good for your health) his IQ on the court was never really a question. With the same style and intellectual suave that he transmits over the airwaves, Frazier was able to run the smooth offensive flow of Red Holzman’s squad. Like every great point guard he had superior court vision, quick moves and his own scoring ability. What sets Frazier apart was his ability to adapt regardless of the pressure or the situation. Frazier had nothing to prove to anyone, he knew he was good. Willis Reed might have emerged from the tunnel to cheers from the crowd, but it was Frazier who carried the Knicks on his back that night. Resounding & Astounding Interviews with Knicks Legend Walt Clyde Frazier

11 Feb

Do yourself a favor and check out this terrific interview by Vanita Salisbury of NY Mag.  Our favorite Knicks Legend addresses an array of topics in his typically colorful way.  When Salisbury asks, “What’s your favorite medication?”, Frazier’s repliesCarrot & celery juice.”  But of course…

Not to be outdone by NY Mag (but clearly outdone), the Cleveland Plain Dealer recently talked fashion with the Knicks Hall of Famer (and former Cavalier).  However, you’ll probably find the comments section more interesting than the interview itself.

Let the Carmelo Anthony to Knicks Stories Begin (Again)

With tomorrow’s Knicks vs. Nuggets game quickly approaching, the Melo-drama is on high. Marc Berman discusses the “conundrum” the franchise faces in making a deal that may disrupt the flow. And Walt Clyde Frazier goes as far as saying, “If they can get ‘Melo, that would be the key,” but warns that dealing the house would set the Knicks back.

Holy Ama’re

News flash for the sleeping Knicks fan:  Amar’e Stoudemire made Knicks history last night as he tied Willie Naulls by scoring 30+ points in 7 straight games.  In 24 games this season, STAT has been nothing short of  phenomenal for this team, and has deservedly garnered MVP chants from the Garden faithful.  The humble Amar’e was “surprised” to hear the chants and quickly credited the team.  However, Alan Hahn cautions that soreness STAT is experiencing in both of his thighs and in his neck may result in a flame out.
