Nuggets Interested in Anthony Randolph, not Landry Fields?

25 Jan

Via Newsday:

But Randolph might not get moved for a pick after all; a person with knowledge of the Nuggets’ thinking told Newsday that they might ask that he be included in the negotiations.

The source also said the Nuggets don’t hold rookie Landry Fields in high regard, which would come as some relief to the Knicks, who are hesitant to give up too much of their young talent.

Want Some Mayo On That? Carmelo Anthony – Knicks Trade Rumors Drag On

14 Jan

As speculation continues to grow about whether Carmelo Anthony will be traded, and whether he’ll be heading to the Nets or the Knicks, Donnie Walsh continues to deny the latest trade rumors involving the Knicks and Carmelo Anthony.  These latest rumors have suggested that a three team deal which would send Anthony to New York, rather than New  Jersey, could involve the Grizzlies sending O.J. Mayo to Denver.

It is unclear whether the prospect of landing Mayo would be enticing enough to allow Denver to ship Anthony to New York.  Clearly, the Nets have more to offer for Anthony than the Knicks do.  However, Anthony’s seemingly unwillingness to sign a long-term deal with the Nets may be enough of a roadblock to prevent the Nets from acquiring the superstar forward.  Still, Knicks fans will continue to ask themselves whether acquiring Anthony’s services is worth trading away much of their young talent that has helped this team to where it is right now.

Knicks have 50/50 chance of landing Carmelo Anthony?

12 Jan

Either they will or they won’t…50/50

Via The Sporting News:

As talks about a three-way trade between the Nuggets, Nets and Pistons that would send Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey have cooled, the Knicks are continuing negotiations with Denver about acquiring the star forward, The New York Daily News is reporting.

A source said the Knicks have a “50-50” chance of landing Anthony. “He’d like to play in New York,” the source said. “But I don’t see anything happening soon.”…

“He has not agreed to go to New Jersey,” a source close to Anthony told the website. “I have never heard him, in all the times we’ve talked, say he’s willing to go to New Jersey. Not once. Personally, I would be stunned if he went there and signed an extension.”

But a different source told The Daily News that Anthony is “willing to listen” to the Nets should the deal get close to finalization.

Don’t Expect Carmelo Anthony To Be Dealt So Soon

23 Dec

There has been a ton of hype surrounding a potential Carmelo Anthony deal to Nets, but perhaps it is all just chatter.

Alan Hahn’s offers this Nugget (pun intended) in his latest Knicks Fix:

“Meanwhile, from what I’m told by informed people, the Nuggets are almost certain to hold on to Carmelo until we’re a lot closer to the Feb. 24 trade deadline. The Nets may be furiously putting together packages and plans and the Nuggets may be enamored with the idea of collecting a plethora of first round picks, but they also aren’t in any hurry to make even that trade. Nets Dealing For Run At Carmelo Anthony?

14 Dec

Via Ken Berger’s Blog on CBS Sports:

The Nets have begun putting into motion a plan to acquire several assets that the Nuggets have asked for in a potential blockbuster trade for Carmelo Anthony, two people familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com.

The first step, agreed to in principle Tuesday, is a three-team trade in which the Nets get a first-round pick from the Rockets and another one from the Lakers. New Jersey sends Terrence Williams to the Rockets and Joe Smith to the Lakers, who send Sasha Vujacic to the Nets, the people familiar with the framework of the deal said.

The deal can’t be finalized until Wednesday because Smith signed as a free agent this past summer and isn’t trade-eligible until then. (more…)

Carmelo Anthony Denies Knicks Trade Story

13 Dec

Via NBA Fanhouse:

“No,” Anthony said when asked if there’s any truth to it. “I haven’t talked to Masai (Ujiri, the Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations) about who I would sign an extension with, and who I want to sign with. I’ve never had that conversation.’

“Something will have to be resolved one way or the other (by the trade deadline),” Anthony said. “Our conversations (between Anthony and Nuggets president Josh Kroenke and Ujiri) will continue to happen. So that’s a good thing.”

Anthony said returning to Denver is still a long-term option.

“Yes,” Anthony said of there still being a possibility he could sign the extension with the Nuggets. “Yes, it is. My options are open. That doesn’t mean I’m not (going to sign it with Denver). That doesn’t mean I am. My options are open.”

No Suspension For Knicks Amar’e Stoudemire

13 Dec

Via CBS Sports:

The NBA has decided not to suspend Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire for either of his dust-ups with Nene during Sunday’s game against the Nuggets, a person with knowledge of the league’s disciplinary review told CBSSports.com Monday.

The league’s disciplinary review was not yet completed, but the source indicated that it was doubtful either of the incidents would be upgraded to a flagrant foul. A suspension would have kept Stoudemire out of the Knicks’ game Wednesday night at home against the defending Eastern Conference champion Celtics.

Meanwhile, Ujiri told a throng of reporters that Anthony’s sentiment is different than when he came aboard. “I think it’s encouraging that he says that (he’s open to re-signing),” Ujiri said. “From when I got on board until now, that’s encouraging. We have had a lot communication.

“I’m sure everybody thought he’d be gone at training camp,” Ujiri added. “It’s promising that he’s still here.” (more…)
