Source: A Few Knicks To Be Traded For Carmelo Anthony Could End Up in Brooklyn

21 Feb

Will he be traded to the Knicks?  Would he sign an extension with the Nets?  How much is too much to trade?  Can the Nuggets find a way to keep him in Denver?  Is Walsh still in control or is Isiah back making moves for the Knicks?  The questions and rumors about the immediate and long term fate of Carmelo Anthony seem like they will never end. Knicks Reportedly Make Offer For Carmelo Anthony

18 Feb

With news breaking earlier today that the Nets have a deal in place for Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks reportedly have jumped back into the running with an offer of their own.  There is no telling whether Anthony would sign an extension with the Nets.  It is therefore conceivable that the Knicks’ offer might be the best Denver can do.

Knicks Still Alive In Quest To Obtain Carmelo Anthony

18 Feb

Via NY Daily News:

James Dolan met with Carmelo Anthony late Thursday in Los Angeles, The Daily News has learned, in what could be the first step in Anthony being traded to the Knicks.

Although the Nets and Nuggets have agreed on players that would be included in a proposed blockbuster trade, the Knicks and Nuggets are scheduled to hold a conference call on Friday afternoon, a high ranking Knicks official tells The News.”

Nets Reportedly Reach Deal With Nuggets For Carmelo Anthony

18 Feb

Nothing is done yet, as there has been no confirmation that Carmelo Anthony will sign a contract extension with the Nets.  However, it appears like the Nets might have finally ended the Carmelo Anthony trade speculation by sending a a host of players including Devin Harris and Derrick Favors, along with several first round draft picks to the Nuggets in a deal for Anthony and several role players.

If the Nets do land Anthony, and he signs the extension, it will be a sad day for some Knicks fans, who had every reason to believe that Anthony would be a Knick next season, one way or another.  But if NJ seriously overpays for Melo’ services, does that make it a more easy pill to swallow for you?

Nets Dealing For Run At Carmelo Anthony?

14 Dec

Via Ken Berger’s Blog on CBS Sports:

The Nets have begun putting into motion a plan to acquire several assets that the Nuggets have asked for in a potential blockbuster trade for Carmelo Anthony, two people familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com.

The first step, agreed to in principle Tuesday, is a three-team trade in which the Nets get a first-round pick from the Rockets and another one from the Lakers. New Jersey sends Terrence Williams to the Rockets and Joe Smith to the Lakers, who send Sasha Vujacic to the Nets, the people familiar with the framework of the deal said.

The deal can’t be finalized until Wednesday because Smith signed as a free agent this past summer and isn’t trade-eligible until then. (more…)

Game Recap: Knicks 111 – Nets 100

1 Dec

What can we say about last night’s win?  The Knicks game out on fire in the 2nd half and beat a team they were supposed to beat.  When was the last time that happened (besides this current stretch)?

Co-captains’ Ray Felton and Amar’e Stoudemire were terrific, individually and running the pick-and-roll.

We must, of course, temper expectations, as the best team the Knicks have beaten in their 7-1 run was Golden State, without David Lee.  Remember, they got whooped by Atlanta and their interior defense is atrocious, but if you are watching closely, you can see this team is starting to gel.

Onto highlights from last night’s game via MSG:

Melo to Nets “not as likely as everyone thinks.”

21 Sep

Quotes that most stand out:

“New York (Knicks) are the only team that Carmelo would definitely re-sign with.”

“The feeling around the league is that most people think they have to get this done before training camp.”

Again, if you believe that Carmelo wants the Knicks, we see this situation getting uncomfortable before it gets resolved.
